If your car has a ceramic coating or wax on the trunk, you must remove it completely in the bonding area.

Step-by-step installation

1. Clean the trunk surface: Wash the trunk lid with soap and water, then wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Remove all wax, ceramic coating, or residue. Let it dry completely. Skipping the alcohol wipe is the most common cause of adhesive failure.
2. Test-fit the spoiler: Place the spoiler on the trunk without removing the tape liner. Center it left-to-right and align the front edge with the trunk contour. Mark the position with painter's tape. The oversized shape makes it easy to misalign; take your time here.
3. Apply the adhesive tape: If the spoiler does not come with tape pre-applied, apply 3M VHB tape along the entire flat mounting surface. Press firmly onto the spoiler, then peel the red liner. Use fresh tape if the supplied tape is old or dirty—old tape loses holding power.
4. Press the spoiler into place: Align the spoiler with your painter's tape marks. Lower it onto the trunk and press firmly along the entire length for 30-60 seconds. Apply extra pressure to the edges. If the temperature is below 60°F, warm the trunk surface and tape with a hairdryer before pressing.
5. Let the adhesive cure: Do not wash the car or drive at highway speeds for 24-48 hours. The tape reaches full bond strength after 72 hours in warm conditions. Park indoors if possible to avoid rain or dew during the curing period.
